An Internet Sendfile Rick Troth BMC * ) Copyright 1996, Richard M. Troth, all rights reserved. This is a README file for UFT for the '96 VM Workshop. (there's another UFT README (uft.readme) that rambles on about how it's supposed to work, which really should be shortened) UFT is Internet SENDFILE. Where NJE connectivity isn't practical (or isn't possible or isn't approved by management) if we still have IP connectivity, then we can send files with this thing. You don't need to install the server (UFTD) to use the client (SENDFILE), and vice versa. LOOK: BITNET will terminate at the end of this year. How will we keep all our beloved VM systems connected? Sure, we can FTP files back and forth, but it's an administrative hassle. Or do you want your users sharing passwords? It will happen. [sigh] To prevent that, use this package. I have to admit that even here I've fallen behind. There are a lot of minor things wrong with SENDFILE, and even with MSGD. The worst of it would be (at this time) the poor state of the MIME mode support. But it does work and it doesn't crash your system. (disclaimer: if it should ever crash your system, I will not be held liable; this thing is shared with the public in good faith) Updates can usually be found at http://casita.houston.tx.us/~troth/software/uft.vmarc or http://ua1vm.ua.edu/~troth/software/uft.vmarc I hope you like it. I hope you LOVE it. -- Rick Troth <troth@casita.houston.tx.us>, Houston, Texas, USA http://casita.houston.tx.us/~troth/
